As we head into the season of firing up the grill and outdoor BBQs, take a moment to think about the actual "cost" of your food.
For example, one 8 oz. stake takes approximately 920 gallons of water to produce. If you were to use 920 gallons when taking a shower, that would be a SEVEN hour shower! Yikes!
Go ahead and fire up that grill (we don't want to rain on anyone's BBQ -- that would be terrible!), but it's helpful to be informed about the actual cost of food production. You can use the Eat Well Guide to find foods that are sustainably produced and local to your area.
